Dr. Rondel Rumburg

Biographical Sketch of Dr. H. Rondel Rumburg Dr. H. Rondel Rumburg was educated in the local school system of Princeton, WV. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1959, and immediately entered Concord College in Athens, WV. After a year at Concord, he transferred to Piedmont Bible College (now Carolina University) in Winston-Salem, NC where he graduated in 1964 with a BRE. He attended Luther Rice Seminary in Jacksonville, FL and graduated with a Th.M. degree. He also attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary working on an M.Div. And lastly, he attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS where he received a D.Min. Degree. Dr. Rumburg has been in the ministry since 1964. He has pastored in WV, VA, NC and AL. He is the founding pastor of three local Baptist churches. During these years, in the ministry, he has taught in two Bible Institutes, contributed weekly articles to newspapers, written literature, been a conference speaker, been a speaker at various Southern events (SCV, League of the South, Revival in the Southern Armies Conference, Chamber of Commerce for Talladega, AL, Lee-Jackson Day, Lexington, VA spoke in Lee Chapel at W & L University, spoke to Southern Baptist Founders Conference, spoke to Liberty University's 8th Annual Civil War Seminar Religion and the Civil War: Whose Side Was God On? March 26-27, 2004 debated Dr. D. James Kennedy taking the position that Lincoln was not a Christian, etc., and has authored numerous short articles and thirty books (Baptists and the State, Stonewall Jackson's Verse, The Universal Dominion of Christ, The Last Earthly Meeting of Lee and Jackson, William Bridge: the Congregational Puritan, John Pelham of Alabama: Chief of JEB Stuart’s Horse Artillery, Gen. He was awarded the Jefferson Davis Gold Medal for his preservation of the true history of the Confederacy from the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Virginia Division. He was also awarded the Reverent J. William Jones Christian Service Award by the International Sons of Confederate Veterans. He wrote forewords to the following former Sprinkle Publications: Life and Letters of "Stonewall" Jackson by Mary Anna Jackson, Two Little Confederates by Thomas Nelson Page, and Among the Camps by Thomas Nelson Page, A Soldier's Recollections by Randolph H. McKim, Diary of a Southern Refugee by Judith B. McGuire, Leonidas Polk by William M. Polk, A Practical View of Christian Ethics by John L. Dagg, The Evidences of Christianity by John L. Dagg, The Life of John Witherspoon by Ashbel Green, Documentary History of the Struggle for Religious Liberty in Virginia by Charles F. James, and National Rectitude by Rev. J. C. Stiles. Dr. Rumburg edited The Works of John Witherspoon in 8 volumes, having written a biographical sketch of John Witherspoon and wrote prefaces to the 9 volumes published by Sprinkle Publications. He edited A Historical and Constitutional Defense of the South by Captain John Anderson Richardson, and Domestic Duties Considered by Rev. William Jay. Also, he compiled and edited the Chaplain’s Handbook for the Sons of Confederate Veterans International. Rumburg edited and provided a foreword to The Life and Character of Mr. Jonathan Edwards by Samuel Hopkins. Dr. Rumburg is the president of the Society for Biblical and Southern Studies; he is an active member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and former commander of the Forrest Camp #1435, Birmingham, AL, and Appomattox Courthouse-Rangers Camp #1733, was past Chaplain for the Alabama Division and was national Chaplain-in-Chief of the SCV. He was on the board of directors of the Shelby County Historical Society in Columbiana, AL. Presently Dr. Rumburg continues to be an active minister of the gospel and the editor of the Chaplain’s Corps Chronicles, which is the e-voice of the SCV Chaplains Corps.
